Biography of Moshe Ya'alon
Moshe Ya'alon is an Israeli politician and military leader. He was born in 1950 in Kiryat-Haim, near Haifa. Ya'alon grew up in a family of Russian immigrants who believed in the ideals of Marx, Lenin, and Stalin. He served three years in the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and then worked as a tractor driver in a neighboring kibbutz.
In 1973, during the Yom Kippur War, Ya'alon was called back to the army and served in a special unit in the battles around the Suez Canal. After the war, he attended officer courses and excelled in his studies. He became a commander in the IDF's Paratroopers Brigade and later joined the elite commando unit "Sayeret Matkal."
